1969 AMC AMX 390
The AMX name originates from the American Motors eXperimental code American Motors used on concept vehicles. The first fully operational unit debuted as part of AMC's AMX project in 1966 but was not introduced to the public until February 15th 1968 at the Daytona International Speedway. Fitted with the optional high-compression 390 cu in (6.4 L) AMC V8 the AMX was classified as a muscle car that offered top notch performance at an affordable price. AMC rated the car at 340 horsepower but the National Hot Rod Association ultimately rated it at 420 horsepower with a recorded quarter mile time of 10.73 seconds at 128 mph. Standard equipment included a Borg Warner T-10 four-speed transmission with a Hurst shifter, special traction bars, dual exhaust, and fatter tires for better traction. This car is optioned with the Go-Package which included front disk brakes, a Twin-Grip differential, red-stripe performance tires (no longer present) on Magnum 500 styled-steel wheels, rally stripes and a heavy-duty suspension with thicker sway-bars. This particular car is a 2 owner car that the current owner recently did a complete tune up on, changed all the fluids (and filters) and completely rebuilt the front brakes on. This car is on the list of muscle cars that are soon going to appreciate significantly so you better get this before it is gone!
