1975 PORSCHE 914
One Owner-Targa Hard Top Convertible-4 Cyl. Air Cooled Engine-Transmission, Engine, and Body Completely Rebuilt in 2 stages The restoration started with the transmission/transaxle when the odometer was reading 99862 miles. The unit was removed, disassembled and completely rebuilt. At this time the suspension was modified. 100 lb springs were installed on the rear all long with oil KBY shocks, and new nylon bushings on the rear sway bar. KBY gas struts were installed on the front, and new front wheel bearings were installed. The brakes were upgraded with a 911(22 mm piston) master cylinder, stainless steel brake lines on all 4 wheels. The calipers were rebuilt. Metal brake pads installed on all 4 wheels, and the system filled with heavy duty silicon brake fluid. A new 911 starter and ground strap was installed. A centrifugal compressor was installed in the A/C system At 99898 miles the engine was removed and rebuilt with a new cylinder head on left side. Larger pistons and cylinders were installed increasing the displacement to approximately 1.925 liters from the original 1.795. A Huff extended duration camshaft, a new magnetic distributor, Two Delortro 38 mm dual carbs with Delortro linkage and filters, a new 911 fuel pump and a Bursch tuned header exhaust system were installed. The final phase off the rebuilding was begun in 2003. It was taken to East Coast Classics in Baxley, Georgia where the body was completely stripped down and inspected for minor dents, dings and rust. The repair proceeded as follows: treat rust spots, guide coat misc dents, strip paint only where needed, sand all panels, prime and guide coat all panels, block sand guide coat, repair damage revealed by guide coat, primed and sealed with PPG DP74LF, and painted with PPG base coat-clear coat (in the original color, Malaga red). The interior and luggage areas were also painted with Malaga red. The rear window was removed and resealed. The original Mahle alloy wheels were powder coated with silver and clear powder coating. The following new parts were installed: windshield, all weather stripping, carpet, upholstery, interior door panels, Michelin 195x65-R45 tires(including spare, roll bar vinyl, and shift linkage bushings between shifter and transmission The odometer reading is 112167. The car Looks and drives better than it did when it was driven off the dealer's lot. This car is sold as is. Pictures of the complete body restoration are available.
